Fay Matsukage Honored with Colorado Bar Association’s Award of Merit 2023

Attorney Fay Matsukage will receive the Colorado Bar Association’s Award of Merit 2023. With this well-deserved honor, Fay joins an esteemed group of legal professionals who have left an indelible mark on the legal landscape of Colorado. The Award of Merit reflects their remarkable ability to navigate complex legal challenges with finesse and deliver exceptional results. Fay joined the Doida Crow Legal team in 2017 and we extend our warmest congratulations to her for this exceptional recognition.

The Award of Merit is a lifetime achievement award for members of the Colorado Bar Association (CBA). The award is given to a member who has provided outstanding service or contributions to the association, to the legal profession, to the administration of justice, or to the community. Matsukage will be presented the award on the September 30th CBA Annual Bar Fellows Dinner at the History Colorado Center.

 

Fay Matsukage

As a practicing lawyer in Colorado, Fay has made a significant impact in the legal community. Fay has been a member of the CBA since 1980 and has been an officer and member of the Board of Governors. Fay is one of the co-founders (1990) of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association (APABA) and a former President of the Colorado Women’s Bar Association (CWBA) (2007-2009). In 2018, she was inducted into the Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame. She is the current Chair of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law Alumni Council.

Fay is an exceptional lawyer who has been committed to providing exceptional legal services for over 40 years. Fay is one of the first Asian‐American female attorneys admitted to practice law in Colorado. She specializes in corporate and securities law and has been nationally recognized as an expert in her field. She has consistently excelled in her practice and worked tirelessly to ensure that her clients receive the highest level of representation.

Beyond Fay’s professional accomplishments she is an outstanding member of the legal community who has consistently demonstrated exemplary service, leadership, and commitment to justice. Fay is the epitome of a community leader. She not only co-founded APABA Colorado and the APABA Colorado Foundation, but she is the consistent voice of compassion and accountability. The community looks to Fay for her leadership in raising funds to better our communities while ensuring that the funds are effectively used. Through her leadership and guidance, she has inspired the next generation of attorneys to continue responsible philanthropy to improve the communities in which we live and practice.

Fay’s passion for justice is evident not only through her professional work but also in how she comports herself in the community. Her many honors include the 1999 Trailblazer Award from the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, the 2006 Minoru Yasui Community Service Award from the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Colorado, the 2006 Mary Lathrop Trailblazer Award from The Colorado Women’s Bar Association, and the 2010 Outstanding Alumni Award from DU’s Sturm College of Law.

Fay has made significant contributions to our state through her philanthropy and dedication to promoting access to justice for all individuals. She exemplifies everything for which the CBA’s most prestigious award stands.
